abrdn is an investment company, headquartered in Edinburgh, with operations across the globe. The company has £535 billion assets under management and administration. It has over 5,000 employees globally and over 1 million shareholders. abrdn has a primary listing on the London Stock Exchange.

The brief, to design a robust on brand icon set working at 48x48 and 24x24 pixels. I was given a list of 200+ icons to work at both sizes, with a clear visual association to the brand. I took inspiration from logo mark, incorporating a circle or dot into every icon. For the line work, I used a mix of rounded corners and square ends to compliment the logo type.

I created the icon set using a robust grid system that not only ensured clarity at large and small sizes but enhanced the overall aesthetic. The primary line weight is 4px with a secondary weight of  2px for detail when needed. This scales down nicely to 2px primary and 1px secondary for the smaller 24x24 set.
