Expertise

UI Design. Illustration. Branding. Animation.

My core skills are UI design, with a strong background in UX design, illustration, branding and animation. With a broad set of skills I’m able to tackle any brief with confidence and creativity, delivering engaging digital experiences.

My core skills

UI/UX Design

While my primary focus lies in UI design, I actively engage in UX throughout the entire process - from conceptualization to the final product. I enjoy building wireframes, crafting high-fidelity prototypes and collaborating with development teams to ensure pixel-perfect builds. Furthermore, I have extensive experience building design systems, fully documenting every facet of the user interface.

Animation

Having animation skills in my tool kit has proved invaluable. Whether it's bringing a narrative to life through a captivating animated video, creating a presentation or prototype, animation serves as a powerful medium to express my creative vision. Moreover, I integrate animation into my UI work, using subtle movements and engaging interactions to enhanced the user experience.

Illustration

My journey began with a childhood passion for drawing, evolving over the years into a robust skill set in illustration. This proficiency has become a valuable asset, seamlessly integrated into my UI work, iconography design and animations. While the majority of my creations are digital, the creative process always begins with pen and paper.

Branding

The thrill of shaping a brand's identity and UI is unmatched. Whether creating a new brand from the ground up or contributing to an existing one, I've had the privilege of collaborating with major UK brands like Disney, Vodafone, British Gas, and Sky. My experience spans from modest product rebranding projects to extensive digital transformation programmes.

The Tools

The design tools I use include Figma, Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, Animate, InDesign, and Premiere. Figma stands out as my preferred choice for UI work due to its collaborative features and integrated prototyping tools, allowing seamless communication and streamlining workflows.

Colour Theory

I use colour theory principles and guidelines to make effective choices when using colour in my design work. It involves understanding the properties of colours, their relationships, and how they can be combined to create visually appealing and impactful design features.

Accessibility

Accessibility is a key component of the design process. Font size, colour contrast, descriptive links are just some of the elements that must be considered and comply with WCAG2 standards. Everything I design undergoes thorough testing to ensure the accessibility standards are in place.

Design Strategy

A design strategy is set up to align design principles and practices with business objectives, user needs, and market trends. A well-defined design strategy will create a cohesive and effective design process that contributes to the overall success of a project.

Iconography Design

Effective iconography design ensures that icons are clear, intuitive, and consistent, contributing to a positive user experience. Building an icon set around a robust grid system will not only ensure clarity at large and small sizes but will enhance the overall aesthetic.

Design Systems

A design system is a comprehensive set of guidelines, components, and tools that work together to ensure consistency and efficiency in the design and development of products or services. It serves as a centralized resource for teams and provides a unified approach to design.
